Mental Health in Grad School: Articles and Resources

unnamed-4

The life of the mind can be a tough place for mental health. By sharing resources and experiences, we can work together to reduce shame and promote mental wellness for all students and faculty. This is a curated list of blogs, articles, and apps that may be of use to graduate students and advisors who are dealing with issues related to mental health. Please let me know of sources that have been useful to you so that I can consider them for inclusion.

We are excited to introduce a new online mini-course, How to Thrive as an Academic with Writing Challenges Related to Neurodiversity or Mental Health.

Download a handy pdf version of this resource list that you can share with students, classmates, or colleagues here.

New Favorite Resource:

The Hilarious World of Depression is a podcast that interviews comedians, actors, and musicians about living and working with depression. While their work is obviously different from that of academics, I am struck by how many of the issues related to identity and self-presentation are true across these groups. Favorite episodes include an interview w/ Reggie Osse about Black men and mental health and one with Rachel Bloom (of the Netflix show Crazy Ex Girlfriend) about bringing mental health to the small screen. Find them on Twitter @THWofD or at the link above.
